The new round of government welfare reforms which started in November will freeze most working age social security benefits, lower the existing benefit caps and remove some disability benefits. Here’s a quick guide to what’s happening and who will be affected.
The lowered benefit cap
The maximum total of benefits for a family with children has been reduced from £23,000 to £20,000 (£13,400 for single claimants without children).
