Citizens Advice Surrey Heath is working with Voluntary Support North Surrey, Surrey Heath CCG and Surrey Heath Borough Council to offer support to local residents who are struggling to cope and/or socially isolated in order for them to take better control over their health and improve their wellbeing. This might include better managing their health, finances, home environment and social interaction.
As Wellbeing Adviser you will report to the Chief Officer at Citizens Advice Surrey Heath and co-ordinate with other Advisers in our partner organisations. You will work with clients who are often vulnerable and may have long-term health issues, throughout Surrey Heath, to understand their concerns around health, finances and wellbeing and identify where support is needed. You will then develop a plan of action to help organise assistance to address their issues and will help your clients to put this in place, supporting them to engage and following up on their progress. This will involve working with clients in their homes, at community locations throughout the borough or at our premises in Camberley.
In addition you will develop contacts with local groups and services to develop your knowledge on what support is available and ensure that referrals are appropriate and sustainable.
You will need to be a confident individual with good listening skills, strong empathy and the ability to motivate others. You should have an organised approach to work together with the ability to manage a busy caseload and develop good relations, both with your clients and the groups you engage with. A respect for equality, diversity and confidentiality is essential.
Experience of working with and supporting vulnerable people is essential. An understanding of welfare benefits and/or experience as a Citizens Advice Adviser would be an advantage, although training will be given, and a local knowledge of resources in Surrey Heath would also be of benefit.
